Luxury African safari travel has been growing in popularity for many years, as falling air fares combine with increased media exposure to raise the awareness of those who were just waiting to have their interest stimulated. The majority of new safari goers are attracted to South Africa, and the Kruger Park in particular, which is definitely one of the best places on the continent to start. A luxury African safari needs to incorporate comfortable travel, but that doesn't necessarily mean you need to restrict yourself to the traditional motor vehicle. Riding on horseback can be a very effective way of ensuring that you see more of what there is to see, as there is no screen between you and the landscape, and animals have a deeper trust of human beings on horseback. The same applies to birds, if you choose to incorporate bird watching into your safari.

You will need to be specific when you book your luxury African safari, as there are so many variations on this theme. Do you want to see as wide an area as possible, traveling on first class trains in between experiencing the best that each region has to offer, or do you want to just settle in to one region to explore it as thoroughly as possible?
